DIN 6796 Stainless Steel Disc Spring Washer Description
High-Load, Clamp-Force Retention Performance
• Manufactured to DIN 6796 in work-hardened austenitic stainless steel (301/304 or 17-7 PH), each conical disk is engineered to deliver up to three times the elastic energy density of a flat washer, maintaining bolt preload even after joint relaxation, thermal cycling, or vibration.
• Tight load-deflection tolerances (±10 %) are achieved through laser-calibrated forming dies and shot-peening, resulting in predictable spring constants across the full deflection range.
• Stainless construction resists chloride-rich atmospheres, humidity, and mild chemicals from −200 °C to +350 °C without galvanic concerns or red-rust formation.
• Endurance tests confirm ≥ 90 % preload retention after 2 × 10⁶ cycles at 75 % of maximum working deflection, safeguarding critical joints for decades of service.
Wide-Ranging Industrial Applications
• Power Generation & Wind Turbines: Maintains bolt tension on tower flanges, generator housings, and gearbox covers exposed to vibration and temperature swings.
• Chemical, Oil & Gas Processing: Live-loads pump and valve gland followers, ensuring leak-free sealing during pressure fluctuations and thermal expansion.
• Rail, Automotive & Off-Highway Equipment: Compensates for settling in suspension brackets, brake assemblies, and engine mounts subjected to road shock and corrosive de-icing agents.
• Precision Machinery & Robotics: Provides compact, high-force springs in ball-screw tensioners, overload clutches, and servo-motor mounts where space is limited and repeatability is essential.
Installer-Friendly, Space-Saving Handling
• Chamfered inner and outer edges prevent scoring when sliding over studs or into counterbores; orientation marks on the outer rim guide rapid stacking without gauges.
• Direct substitution for plain washers—standard torque values remain valid while the spring action automatically compensates for gasket creep, paint thickness, or thermal growth.
• Slim height-to-load ratio achieves high clamp forces in confined spaces, often eliminating the need for multi-piece Belleville stacks or hydraulic tensioners.
• Supplied loose, in shrink-wrapped columns, or tape-on-reel for automated pick-and-place systems; optional PTFE-free dry-film lubrication reduces installation friction and galling on stainless hardware.
Verified Quality & Long-Term Durability
• 100 % optical inspection checks thickness ±0.02 mm, cone angle ±0.25°, parallelism ≤0.05 mm, and free height ±0.1 mm; Cp/Cpk ≥1.67 data archived for ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and AS 9100 audits.
• Shot-peened surface Ra ≤0.8 µm introduces compressive stress that raises fatigue endurance, while passivation removes free iron for maximum corrosion resistance.
• Duplex variants (electropolished + dry-film or epoxy top-coat) withstand 1 000 h xenon-arc weathering and 200 °C bake cycles without colour shift or flaking, ideal for outdoor or mildly chemical environments.
• Each lot is laser-etched or QR-coded for full traceability to melt chemistry, heat treatment, load-deflection curve, and inspection report, giving engineers confidence in safety-critical assemblies across industries.
