How Fastener Weight Is Calculated
FAQ – Fastener Weight
How do you calculate the weight of a fastener?
The most reliable way is to use a manufacturer weight chart, like the ones on this page, which list verified weights per 100 pieces for each diameter and length. For a rough estimate you can also calculate volume x density: weight (kg) = volume (mm³) x density (g/cm³) / 1,000,000, using 7.85 g/cm³ for mild steel.
What does fastener weight per 100 pcs mean?
It is the total weight of 100 identical fasteners in kilograms. Divide by 100 to get the weight of a single piece. This unit is standard in fastener pricing and packing because single-piece weights are very small.
How much does a hex bolt weigh?
It depends on diameter and length. For example an M.S. hex half-thread bolt with nut, M10 x 50 mm, weighs about 5.155 kg per 100 pcs, which is about 51.6 g per piece. Use the calculator above to check any combination.
Can I use these weight charts for shipping cost estimation?
Yes. Fastener net weight is the starting point for freight quotes. Add packaging weight and note that stainless steel parts weigh about 3% more than equivalent M.S. parts because of higher density (7.93 vs 7.85 g/cm³).
Are the weight charts for M.S. or stainless steel fasteners?
The charts on this page are for M.S. (mild steel / carbon steel) fasteners. For stainless steel 304/316 parts, multiply the M.S. weight by approximately 1.01 to 1.03. Contact us for exact figures for your grade.
Which standards are these fastener weights based on?
The tables follow Indian and international standards including IS 1363, IS 2269, IS 3757, BS 916, DIN 912, DIN 7984, DIN 975 and DIN 1481. Each table on this page states the standard it refers to.

Отказ от ответственности: The weight figures on this page are compiled from standard reference charts (IS / BS / DIN) and typical manufacturer data for mild steel fasteners. Actual weights may vary slightly by manufacturer tolerances, thread profile and surface treatment (galvanizing, Dacromet, zinc plating, etc.). GUXIANG is not liable for decisions made solely on these values; confirm final weights with our sales team for official quotations.
